The nurses have started hinting to us that Elora may be ready to move to the ICC soon. The ICC means Infant Care Center, which is the unit she will move to after the NICU. It's less intensive and most likely where she will discharge from. She is very close to moving to the ICC - the main thing she needs to do is get a little more stable on her breathing. Once we move to the ICC we'll be sure to post about life there and pictures!
Elora had another eye exam today. If you remember in our last post, they found a mild case of ROP (an eye disease that 80% of preemies get) in her right eye. They have now found some ROP in her left eye and it has grown a little bit since last week, but they are still considering it a "mild" case. It could completely heal on it's own - or they may need to intervene with a laser eye treatment to get rid of it. Instead of a pediatric eye doctor, Elora will be followed very carefully by a retinal eye specialist going forward. He will check on her eyes frequently & determine if/when the laser treatment is necessary.
The good news is that it is a mild case & if it gets worse, they know how to treat it (another reason we are in awe of modern medicine!! ). We ask that you would continue to pray for healing in her eyes and that she would not have to have glasses at a young age, which sometimes in the case.
Yesterday she weighed in at 3 lb, 4 oz! She is gaining about 1-2 ounces per day - go Elora!
