Eye Exam Update

Before sharing about Elora's eye exams, I need to brag on our little girl for a moment. Yesterday she weighed in at 2 lb, 14 oz, which means that she has now DOUBLED her birth weight. Woot! Whoot!

Many of you have been asking how her eye exams have been going & praying for her eye health. Last week at her first appointment, results came up inconclusive because her eyes were too immature to see anything. This week, her right eye still came up as immature, but her left one is showing a mild case of Retinopothy of Prematurity (ROP).

About 80% of preemies get ROP, so we were not surprised some showed up in Elora's eye. Thankfully it was diagnosed as Stage 1. There are 5 stages - Stage 1 being least serious and most likely to correct itself, giving a good chance of completely normal vision.

Elora will continue to have eye exams on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.  She has one scheduled for next week (Thurs), and we would ask for your continued prayer in this area for our little girl.  We have already seen so many miracles of healing in her body & we trust that this will be the same!

  1. Thanks for another update. I'm doing some swim training this summer, which I am really, really bad at, so I need something to keep my mind occupied or else I'll give up. A few weeks ago, as I was desperately trying to think of something, anything else to think about, God reminded me to pray for Elora. So, now I get to pray for her (and you guys) for at least half an hour, about 3 times a week. Updates help my prayers stay focused...and my prayers for you all are helping me keep from drowning in the pool!
