Life Continues

Obviously the last few months have been consumed with numerous doctor appointments, a birth, good news, bad news and everything in between.  Looking back, I wouldn't change a thing because we have a beautiful little baby girl who is doing better and better each day. (She is actually getting chubby cheeks weighing in today at 2 lbs 13 ounces.)  That said, it was fun to do something different last Friday that seemed a bit more "normal"...we went to the wedding of our friends now named Andrew and Kristen Renschen.  I sang in the ceremony, which was a lot of fun. We had a great time but both had some guilt moments that I think every new parent goes through when they leave their baby for the first time to go do something "normal".  I think we are still figuring out how to give ourselves permission to engage in things other than Elora.  I've been thinking about the passage "Rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn."  To me, the wedding was a good reminder that life isn't just about my circumstance, but about how we can do life together in community. We have certainly benefitted from a community that has surrounded us with love and support.

This weekend brought an opportunity to rejoice through the wedding, but also a reason to mourn.  One of the prayer requests I want to throw out to all of you reading this is for our good friend Emily.  You may have heard about an awful car crash near Lindstrom, MN this weekend that took the lives of a man and 2 of his children.  That was Emily's uncle and cousins.  Emily, we are mourning with you.  There aren't words to give you but those only the Spirit can speak.  You and your family are loved!

Rejoicing and mourning create quite a wide spectrum in life.  I'm comforted to know that God is big enough to handle it all.

  1. So appreciating the perspectives you both bring. Thanks, Peter for this post. I too have been thinking about the both/and of life: celebration and grief, crying out to the Lord and giving Him due praise. All together, not either/or. Praying for the three of you often - dawnette
