Thanks again for all your prayers and support. We are trusting God daily to protect and grow Elora...and we can see how all the prayers lifted up on her behalf are keeping her protected and growing.
We are happy to report that these last few days have been very stable for her. She is still on a ventilator to help her breath & probably will be for a while longer. Please pray that her lungs would mature and work properly so that she is able to smoothly come off the ventilator. She had been taking two blood pressure medicines and we just found out today and she is no longer on either one (yay!).
Today Peter and I were able to help a little bit with her care. We were able to help take her temperature and also feed her a Q-tip soaked in some breast milk. Soon we will be able to help change her diapers (which totally scares me just thinking about it!) but it will be really nice for us to start helping out in a tangible way.
Today she weighed in at 1 lb, 8 oz - which means she has gained an ounce since birth. We did a little happy dance :) It may not seem like a lot, but it means that she is growing ..so we like that!
We decided today that she has my lips and Peter's toes. Just very miniature versions of them!
We love our little girl so much and can't wait to see how she grows over these next few months before we get to take her home. Continue to pray for her health, protection, and growth. Please pray for our mental and emotional stability as this is a challenging and scary time for us watching her in the hospital. Also, pray for my physical healing from the C-section as I am still very sore and quite immobile.
We plan to see her every day this week and so I will be sure to post updates.
Lots of love,
Sarah (& Peter)
wow Sarah! How crazy this must be for you all. I'm glad you started a blog, it will be a wonderful way to document this time so that when Elora is a beautiful, vibrant, little girl you will be able to fully remember just how far God has taken her.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for you and your family, that God will give you all peace and strength and that Elora's health will remain strong until the day she gets to come home.
God Bless!
Wonderful news! Thanks so much for the update. So excited about that additional ounce! :) Love you guys and still praying!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful gem you have! While I'm sure this was not the plan that you had for her entrance into the world, I'm confident that this will be a miraculous journey that will change your life in so many amazing ways.
ReplyDeleteI know that you are in the best of hands (the One above) with the help of the excellent doctors and nurses Children's. I continue to affirm the Truth each day that Elora will grow to be a beautiful, vibrant young lady.
