We had a great day with Elora. She was very stable all day and we were in her room 2-3 times over the course of the day (my friend Angie visited and then both of the grandmas came and visited). Elora is getting some UV light treatment to help with her red blood cells and some bruising from the delivery. She has to wear eye protection while getting the lights on her - so it's fun to look at her laying in her incubator like she is at the beach just sunning herself with sunglasses on!
She is on a breathing machine and they expect that will continue into this next week. Due to the fact that she is in an incubator and there are a lot of tubes, I am hesitant to post a lot of pictures at this point, but did want to share a favorite from today that my friend Angie took. It captures her little tiny toes so perfectly!

Every little part of her body is just so perfect and well.....little! She dropped about an ounce since she was born, so today she weighed in at a whopping 1 pound, 6 ounces. I adore her little fingers, toes, ears, and especially her head full of blonde hair. It's hard to believe she was inside of me just 3 days ago.
We have a very long road ahead of us and really need your prayers. Elora will most likely be in Children's hospital until mid-August. It will be very hard for us to leave the hospital without her and try to live "normal" life bouncing between home and visiting her. But, it's all worth it and we trust the care that she is being given at Children's is first class. We also trust God's mighty power to protect her and grow her. He is so faithful.
Check back for more updates!
Oh, Sarah! Those toes! Precious. Praying for you all!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious photo! The weeks spent in the NICU will probably feel like eternity, then when you bring her home you'll want time to slow down--at least that's how it went for us. You'll become pros with all the monitors and tubes--my advice is to do as much of the cares as they will allow. The hardest part for me was leaving my lil guy at night too, since that's not how we all envisioned it would be (just like Peter said in the last post). So glad to hear Elora is so strong. Be each other's rocks during this time; you'll eventually make it out of this valley together. God bless!

ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine Sarah...I'm praying for your new mommy heart, that there would be so much grace amid the hormone swings and post-partum stuff. That is one precious little foot and I know Jesus is lovin' on that sweet little one every moment you can't. Sending lots of prayers from PA! Keep us updated!

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the family Elora. I love your name. We're so excited you're finally here. I'm your great-uncle Larry and I live with your great-aunt Gayle and your great-grandpa Ernie. He has some great stories to tell you, and aunt-Gayle has some great-cookies to bake for you, and I've got some great John Wayne and Jerry Lewis movies to show you. Can't wait to play "this little piggy" with your cute tootsies. We sure love you and your mommy and daddy and Jesus loves you even more. He'll be with you even when they can't be with you. We'll pray for you everyday. Talk with again sweetie.
ReplyDeleteSarah, You are such a strong woman and I'm blown away by your sweet girls strength. How awesome is our God!? Thanks for keeping us updated as we pray for you.
