Five Pound Mark!

Today Elora hit five pounds! She is growing like a champ and getting closer and closer to coming home - we think maybe 3-4 weeks away (?).   She has been weaned down to a level 1 on her respiratory support (out of 4 levels) and is doing great. The only times she has issues with breathing is when she is eating. Sometimes she is enjoying her bottle a little too much that she forgets she has to breathe at the same time!  So, there are some nitty gritty things that still need to be worked out before she comes home.

Overall she is eating well. She is up to about 1.5 ounces of milk every 3 hours. She drinks about half her feedings from a bottle and the other half from the feeding tube. She doesn't have the energy level yet to take all her feedings by bottle yet.

Please continue to pray for her eyes. Both her eyes are now at a stage 2 (out of 4, 4 being the most severe) of ROP. She still isn't at a point where she needs laser surgery, but they are watching her very closely since she has now reached the age where most babies need the surgery, which is 37 to 40 weeks gestationaly (Elora is 37 weeks).

We had some family visitors this last week!  Becca and Seth (my sister and brother-in-law) were here from Chicago last weekend.  Also Peter's brother and wife were here from Indiana. This was their first time meeting Elora!
