Tomorrow Elora will be 12 weeks old! It is hard to believe our fragile, miniature, kicking baby has now become this plump little snuggle-bug. We love the interaction we now have with her. She seems to follow our voices with her eyes and she loves to hold our fingers with a strong white-knuckle grip! She is weighing in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces now!
Elora had a routine eye doctor appointment this morning. Praise God - there were no changes since last week's appointment, which means her eyes have not become any worse. The retinal specialist will continue to monitor her on a weekly basis. Please continue to pray for healing in her eyes.
She has now been weaned down to a 1/2 liter of oxygen pressure on her breathing support (out of 4 liters). The nurse told us they expect her to be off breathing support altogether in 1-2 weeks- YAHOO!!!! Elora's feedings continue to increase in quantity every 4-5 days. She is now taking 46 ml every 3 hours (equivalent of 1.56 ounces). She is doing well taking most of her feedings from a bottle. This week we are going to dive deeper into the adventurous world of breast feeding and see how that goes!
We praise the Lord for Elora - our little miracle. We can't wait for all of you to meet her. We know the Lord chose to keep her alive for a distinct purpose. I can't wait to see her life unfold. I truly believe she will be a bright shining light in this world. We love our little Elora -meaning "God is Light".
