Our Life....With Cords

What can I say? We are LOVING life with Elora at home. We love the noises, the cuddles, and looking at that sweet little face. She even started smiling this week!

What do we NOT love? The cords.

Don't get me wrong- we are happy to have her home no matter what accessories come along with it. But, we will be happy when the day comes that the cords are gone. It takes two of us to move her from the upper level to the main level of the house. One of us takes her and one of us carries the oxygen tank and monitor. When we leave the house, even for a walk, we have to hook her up to a portable oxygen tank and bring the monitor along. Thankfully they both fit nicely in the bottom netting of the stroller. Getting in and out of the car is a whole other story!

Since being home we have taken her to the pediatrician twice, had a public health nurse visit the house (Hennipen county), had a development specialist from the Hopkins school district come out, and had a nurse from Children's Hospital come out. We feel so privileged to have this type of care and concern about her health and well-being now that she is at home. Thankfully there are no concerns with her health at this time and she is no longer on any medication! The only thing we giver her is a vitamin supplement and add some fortifier to her milk. AMAZING!

Her weight as of Wednesday was 8 pounds, 6 ounces!

Going forward, she will see the pediatrician once a month, a nurse from Children's 1-2 times per week, a developmental specialist every 6-8 weeks, the ear doctor 2 times per year, and the eye doctor every few months. Wow! You can imagine how organized my planner has to be to keep up with all these appointments!

Don't you wonder what she is thinking?!

  2. Wow, what a handful those cords and tanks are! At least she's HOME and staying healthy, eh? So happy! Hope those cords can take a hike soon. I have been and will continue to pray for y'all (I know, I'm a little late in reading all your posts!).
