Elora is Home!

After four months (127 days to be exact!) in the hospital, we are pleased to tell you that little Elora Nicole came home with us on Tues, Sept 13!

Many times over these past months we would be at home or in the car and say to one another "one day she will be in this house...one day she will be in this car". We could hardly even imagine it.  All we have ever known is a baby that we had to go visit. A baby that was looked after by nurses. A baby that had never been outside. Those days are over! As I write this post, I am in our living room, snug on the couch with Peter next to me, Elora fast asleep in his arms.

The day before discharge, me, Peter, my parents, and Peter's parents were in training all afternoon. We had to learn how to use the oxygen tanks, how to use the apnea monitor, & go through CPR and choke training.  It was a lot of information to digest at once, but all very well explained.

The day of discharge was a bit of a whirlwind. We had to pack up all her things, go through paperwork, get her prescriptions, get a car seat check, talk to the dietitian, occupational therapist, developmental specialist, and try to get any last questions answered that we could think of. We left around 1:30 in the afternoon with Elora in our arms and big huge smiles on our faces :)

Overall things are going very well having her home. Peter is off of work for 2 weeks, which is such a blessing as we try to establish a bit of a routine and rhythm taking care of Elora. Between feedings, diaper changes, clothing changes, giving her medication, and lots of snuggle time ... its keeping both of us very busy!

We are anxious to show her off!  We would LOVE visitors over to our house. But, please know that we can't have kids over or anyone with any cold/flu symptoms. Elora's immune system isn't as strong as an average newborn, so we have to take some special precautions!  So, let us know if you are out and about sans kids and we'd love for you to stop by!

Here are a few pictures from her discharge from the hospital and the first few days at home! Enjoy!
