I am having a baby in a week...oh me oh my!
These weeks are zooming by and we find it so hard to believe we'll have a newborn in our house in such a short time. The bottles are sterilized, the bouncer is out, the sheets on the crib mattress are washed. Although we are "ready", I still find it hard to imagine our little nugget actually being here. We'll just have to experience it for it to be real!
Last week I had my last final ultrasound of the pregnancy. Baby boy was wiggly and his face was pressed up against my uterine wall - so we unfortunately didn't get any good views of his face. But, it was so fun to see such a big body-he measured in the 81st % at an estimated weight of 5 lb, 14oz. He was doing some "practice breathing", which was a good sign. Breathing is the main area of concern with him being born via scheduled C-Section at a little over 36 weeks gestation. Considering he'll be early, he is estimated to weigh around 8 pounds when he is born (how big would he have BEEN at 40 weeks..yikes!). But, keep in mind that weight does not equal development. He may be just fine and his lungs may be ready for the outside world. Or they may not. And that may mean extra time in the special care nursery at the hospital.
Last weekend I went away with a bunch of girlfriends to Peter's aunt and uncle's cabin. It was the perfect pre-baby getaway. We talked, cozied up by the fire, cooked, got pedicures, shopped, played games, laughed hysterically, and enjoyed a break from our kiddos (The group of 14 girls who went are moms to 29 children + 4 on the way). We were so thankful to our husbands for watching them all this weekend.
