For the past 4 or 5 or 6?! winters now, we have set off to a cabin for the weekend with friends. I am not sure if we simply embrace and celebrate winter or just try to make it more tolerable. Either way it is something we look forward to and have been doing it since before any of us had kids. Now there are a lot of kids in the mix and although it has changed the dynamic of the weekend, it hasn't lost its appeal (yet)!
This year we had 9 adults (one friend was sick - boo!) and 9 children + one on the way. Thank goodness we had such a large cabin to accommodate! It was just the space we needed to make a group that size work without wanting to kill one another :) The kids were great. I simply couldn't believe it. They played so well together and I don't recall many meltdowns or fights among them. As per usual, we set aside "girls only time" and "guys only time" while there. I always look forward to being out with the girls snowshoeing, giggling, sharing life stories with one another, and appreciating the snowy winter wonderland around us.
This by far was one of the coldest weekends we have had. So much so that we didn't take the kids outside. But, we enjoyed the beauty around us and time as adults outside. The weekend was filled with great memories and laughs. And as always - good food! So thankful for great friends!
