Dedication Sunday

Every year on Mother's Day (this year it fell on May 13) our church has a child dedication service. I love this tradition on Mother's Day. I missed the service last year since I was on bedrest in the hospital. I have always looked forward to one day when it would be our turn to stand on that stage and dedicate our little one to the Lord.

What is child dedication? It is when parents present their child before God and the church, asking for grace and wisdom in parenting. It doesn't mean salvation or anything like that ... it's just more of a way for parents to make a public commitment that they will strive to raise a child in the way that the Bible instructs.

Peter and I want to raise Elora in a way that encourages her to honor the Lord and teaches her about Him and how to follow Him. We were honored to have our pastor pray for Elora and ask the community of people around us to support us as we parent her. What a special, precious, and beautiful time it was!

There were 6 other kids dedicated the same day - many of their parents are our close friends. We love our church and are excited for Elora to grow up going there. There are many other little kids (especially girls!) her age, which is so fun. Future slumber parties anyone?!

Here are a few pictures from the service.

She did great on stage - no squirming!
