It's been a few weeks since our last post...time for an update!
Elora is doing GREAT! She is becoming VERY active. At night she sleeps well and hard. But, when she is awake, she is AWAKE. She is constantly kicking her legs and waving her arms. She has recently started to babble (as shown in the attached video). It's fun to hear her "talking" to the animals that dangle above her bouncy chair.
She recently had two doctors appointments that went exceptionally well! She saw the eye doctor for her first follow up since we learned that her ROP had resolved. The doctor said that her eyes are doing great! She is not showing any signs of vision issues or needing glasses as a young child.
Elora saw a developmental specialist last week at Children's as well. Another glowing report. Developmentally she is right on track for her adjusted age (which is 2.5 months). Her movements are appropriate and symmetrical. Her hearing and ability to follow/track with her eyes is right on the mark. She is even a little advanced in a few areas - such as her head control and support. We were relieved to hear that all is well in that arena!
One area that we would appreciate prayer for is her growth/weight gain. She should be gaining 1/2 -1 ounce per day. We found out that over the past 6 weeks, Elora has been gaining an average of 1/3 ounce per day. It's quite odd considering her feeding volumes are right on track and she is sleeping very well. Please pray that she would gain weight in a more rapid manner. Her weight gain will contribute to her overall health and get her off of oxygen support sooner. We love that she is an active baby - but all those burnt calories aren't helping her grow! :)
Enjoy a little video of the babe:
What a cutie! Tell us more Elora:)
