Because Elora is tethered to the monitor and oxygen tank, I pretty much spend 80-90% of my day in the living room which is where we have everything set up for her. I love our living room (and I will love it more when our new leather sectional arrives next week!). But, seriously, I go a little coo-coo some days and just need to get out of the house. Ridgedale Mall has been my #1 go-to. It's super close to our house and it's a great way to stretch my legs and feel a bit "normal". I go in the mornings when it's not crowded. It's great because no one gets near us (no germs on baby!), but yet I get to people watch and show off that I have a little one:) I will say, I have been pleasantly surprised by the reactions of those who see her and then ask how old she is. When I say "she is five months...but born a liiiiiitle early", they seem to get it. They don't stare at her tubes, they just give lovely compliments about how well she looks and what a journey it must have been for us. Way to be understanding western-Minneapolis-suburbanites!!
Okeeeee - onto what is new with Elora.
As usual, she has had a slew of doctor appointments lately. The nurse has still been coming to the house to weigh her once or twice a week. Last week we brought Elora back to Children's Hospital for the first time since she was discharged. I honestly thought it would be traumatic for me going back, but it really wasn't. We saw the pulmonologist (aka. lung doctor) for her first check up. The good news is that we are getting rid of the apnea monitor at the end of this month!!! The not-so-fun news is that he estimated she would be on oxygen support for another 2-3 months.
Elora also saw the pediatrician and had a glowing appointment. He said she was looking healthy and well nourished. We will continue to see him on a monthly basis going forward. We were happy that at this appointment we learned she had hit
9 pounds!!!
Overall, things are going SO WELL having her home. She is getting bigger and smilier every day! We love our little miracle so much. Enjoy some recent pictures!
