March 21, 2011 was one of the best days of my life. We got to see our little wiggly baby via ultrasound. We were able to see all 10 fingers and toes, every limb, the spine, the four chambers of the heart, and much more. Each part was carefully inspected and measured & displayed up on a plasma screen for us to see. I loved every minute of seeing baby and the growth that's happened since the last ultraound at 9 weeks.
One the best parts of the ultrasound was finding out that we are having a girl! As you know from my blog post at 15 weeks that I thought it was a girl. So, it was pure joy to hear confirmation that my "inkling" was correct and a baby girl is on the way (yes, I cried).
At first we didn't think that we would be able to find out the gender. Baby girl decided she wanted to be prim and proper and keep her ankles crossed. Thankfully we had an ultrasound tech who wouldn't give up (bless her heart). She poked and prodded at my belly until baby shifted and we got a clear view of her "girlhood".
We shared the news with our parents the day after the ultrasound. We met up for coffee and gave them each a present to open (a pink baby blanket) as a way of telling them the gender. We had such a great time talking about baby girl on the way!
We are excited to start looking at girl things and deciding what to do in the nursery. We love the idea of raising a daughter.
