Adoption Update

So many people in our life are so thoughtful to ask about how adoption is going. It’s made me realize that I haven’t mentioned too much on the blog about our journey and thought it was time for an update! After 9 months of the paperwork, education, and compliance process – we completed our home study in June 2013! In a nutshell, that means that we are approved to adopt and enter the waiting phase. And by “waiting” we mean waiting for birth parents to choose us. We have now been waiting since June, so 7 months. Many people ask us how the wait is going and how we feel about it. Fortunately the answer is that we have been ok with it (so far). We knew this could be a long process and wait and right now we don’t feel like we have been waiting longer than we expected to. On the days that it’s hard to be a parent, the wait feels ok  But, sometimes when I realize that Elora is going on three, I feel the time moving quickly and don’t want their age span to be too much farther apart than three years. But, I am not in control and realized that many years ago when I lost my first baby and then subsequently had a baby three months earlier than expected! We look forward to the day when we have another baby (I love infants!) and to see Elora have a sibling. We would love your prayers!

  1. And now that Elora wants a little sister (like Caillou) it's bound to happen soon!
