Beeing Morrows

If you are friends with me on facebook or instagram - then you will know already that we have bee hives for the first time this year!  It has become a new found hobby of Peter's and although I don't know as much as he does about it all - I will say it really is quite amazing!

Peter took a beekeeping course at the University of MN last year and learned all about bees, their anatomy, and honey production/harvesting. This spring we drove to Stillwater, MN to pick up our first set of bees and that began the Morrow hives!

Apparently this summer was a particularly good summer for beekeeping. I can't exactly tell you why, but I will say that Peter was very pleased with our colony and how things went for Morrow Hives year #1!

I really love how much Peter loves it and has done a great job of "showing me the ropes".  For Father's Day this year he got a second suit - so I was able to go out and see inside the hive for the first time last week which was really cool.

Over labor day weekend Peter harvested the honey and I helped with the bottling and labeling.  We got an amazing 75 pounds of honey (approx), which is about 5 gallons.  It is very delicious honey with a floral taste.

I am so proud of my husband!
